This page will include any club related news that members would like included. If you would like something included here please let me have a few paragraphs and, if possible, a photograph. Bowling success stories always welcome!
Fry's Island sits in the middle of the Thames, near the centre of Reading, and it is home to two boatyards, a private bungalow and the Island Bohemian Bowls Club. Access can be arranged from either side of the river and Island Bohemian Bowls Club is probably the only bowls club in the world that runs its own ferry service. A group of Banister Members visited the Island for a friendly match on Saturday 1 June and here are a few photos of the day.
Keeping on top of improvements in greenkeeping
Tony Spratling, our greenkeeper, is one of the most experienced turf specialists in the county. He is always looking to find out what is available to him to keep our greens in tip-top condition and members of Banister Park are very grateful to Tony for all the hours of work that goes into greenkeeping, most of which go unnoticed by members. Tony is always very grateful for any help that is offered by volunteers and anyone who is able to offer a few hours a month to tend the gardens and areas surrounding the greens would be very gratefully received.
